Apartment Mod And Master Controller's "Add Sim" Interaction

Post by Sarah_Sims » November 6th, 2015, 5:27 pm

I think I've just discovered a conflict between Ani's Apartment mod and Master Controller's "Add Sim" interaction.

I was adding quite a few sims to one household by clicking on the sims themselves and adding them to the active household. One sim (Madison VanWatson) kept being added as a roommate instead of a normal sim and her portrait could not be clicked on so she was completely unselectable. I believe this was because she was the current 'inactive' part of a household of inactives being controlled by Ani's Apartment mod.

Once I added Madison back to her original house via MC and then made her the 'active' part of the inactive household in Ani's Apartment mod, I was able to add her to my active household as a normal sim via MC "Add Sim".

Hope that makes sense. It's quite difficult to explain. I don't suppose there's anything that can be done about it, just wanted to make everyone aware of what can happen. If someone can confirm I'm right, I'll add a warning to the mod's pages. :-)

Just a little more info: Are you using MC Base testingversion 133c and Gohere testing version 44c? There is functionality in between those 2 testingversion mod which makes them somewhat intertwined. Though you can use one without the other, but if I have to guess adding the Apartment mod in between these mods will probably be problematic.

As there is a precaution entry in <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/GoHere+Testing">Gohere Testing page</a> about Ani's Apartment mod. Those 2 mods should not be used together, although we haven't really tested it out, but code wise as Chain explained it to me months ago it could conflict.

The conflict would be between the door system if I recall correctly. If anything else is happening that'd be peculiar. Although odder things have happened (see the coffee mod and careers unsolved mystery).

This is actually a bug with Ani's apartment mod. It appears to leave Sims controlled with it without an assigned household which causes wonkiness with MC which doesn't expect such. Will have to sort that, I doubt that critical piece of missing data is good for the core overall.

@J4Ks: Yes I'm using the testing versions: MC Base V133c and Go Here V44c. I did read the warning about the possible conflict between Ani's Apartment Mod and Go Here but I assumed (and now Chain has confirmed) that it was to do with the doors. As I know Ani doesn't change anything to do with the doors in her mod (she just uses the standard EA door locking system) I didn't think it would matter that much and haven't noticed any other problems with the two mods being used together.

@Chain: Thanks for confirming that. :-) I kept meaning to ask why there might be a conflict but as I knew you were busy with RL I thought it could wait. There is also a similar problem between SP and the Apartment mod but I'll post more details about that in a separate thread sometime in the future. :-)

Then the EA door lock system might be something of a concern as GohereT v44c also affects it. Though it might just depends on the order which mod gets loaded first.

Do you see the option Lock> Specify Sims For This Door on community lots doors? If, so then it would seems that Gohere is taken precedence over the Apartment mod. If it's not available then the Apartment lot.

Though it would be interesting to know what you see on the Apartment lot's door, if Gohere's mod takes precedence.

@J4Ks: Sorry, I should have been more explicit. What I meant was, as far as I know, Ani's mod doesn't contain any door locking features. In gameplay, she just uses a normal residential lot split into two 'parts' and locks the main door into each 'part' with the standard EA door locking system.

I'll check which options I get when I start up my game in a minute or two. :-)

The code she gave me appears to automatically adjust the door locks when switching families. Whether the current version does or how my system would respond to this I'm not sure offhand. There are no interactions replaced added to the doors though, correct.

@J4Ks: Sorry I forgot to do this yesterday. Just checked now and I get the full range of options on community doors:-

Lock
> Everybody
> Everyone but Myself
> Everyone but My Household
> Pets
> Specify Sims for this Door
> Door Options...

On the Apartment doors, I get exactly the same options. The Apartment is a normal residential lot. :-)

@Chain: On switching to the other family, all the door settings stayed in place apart from one pet, who disappeared from the door he should have been assigned to but didn't appear on the other door. :-)
