Time to install Windows 7 or 8.1, faults with this plan?

My continuous struggle with deteriorating graphics in Sims 3 with Windows 10 has brought me to the point where I've purchased Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 discs (professional). A recent update has made sim's skin look like they have a disease. I'll handle security issues by keeping the computer off the...

Anyone used s3pe to recategorize CAS items?

I recently learned that I could use s3pe to recategorize store clothes and hair in CAS. In theory this would be invaluable to me, even though it is very time consuming and tedious at the start. I do this a lot with package files, and also add thumbnails that you can actually recognize! I use anothe...

The creeping crud. :(

indignantgirl , Just dropped in to say welcome to the club. It's a sucky club that none of us want to be in but as puzzlezaddict said, hopefully there will be a fix some day. The blotchy pixilated color banded faces were the first thing I noticed when it happened to me (in December 2019). I well re...

The "pixelation" problem

Come on guys, are you serious? There's no problem here. The game is quite old and designed with 512MB of VRAM budget I believe. Most textures are compressed with noticeable artifacts. The game engine uses its own gamma to emulate lighting and make the image brighter. I've seen this argument around ...

The "pixelation" problem

This game renders the graphics in linear RGB them map the output to sRGB Gamma 2.2 for display and if you know how Gamma works this destroys dark level detail. So that explains why darker skinned sims look so godawful. So the only solution for this issue, at this time, is to get an AMD card? And ca...

Steam and Sims 4...

Holy cannoli, I just put Origin on my laptop so I could download and play Sims 2. I also have my Steam version of Sims 3 on there. Deleting...immediately. Thanks for all this info.

And could we get an 'insightful' reaction over here?!

The Sims 3 GPU add on

Thank you for answering. I know how to do this manually thanks to instructions from someone here. I was hoping this was something different to force Sims 3 to use more power. Oh well. :)

The Sims 3 GPU add on

Would like to know what the experts have to say about this. Is this just editing your graphics rules files, which you can do manually? Or is it doing something special?

Linux, Steam and Sims 3

KittyTheSnowCat, Thanks for explaining all that. It makes the terms less confusing. I plan to try to install Ubuntu but life has been so busy it's been put on the back burner.

Linux, Steam and Sims 3

KittyTheSnowCat, Sorry I haven’t replied, busy week. I haven’t had time to try the Linux install on my laptop. I’ll figure out how to install your IM app and contact you there. Thank you so much.
