Edit more special outfits in CAS?

Post by AlHollandiyah » February 17th, 2019, 3:35 pm

Hey, I was looking for ways to change my mermaids top and I found some people saying you can use Nraas MC Stylist to change that, but I didn't get that option, and then I found this post that I will quote here:

----------------------------------------------------------------
I searched for a way to change the shell bra and it says to use the master controller everywhere. So I'm trying that; I change my sim into her mermaid outfit (nraas > master controller > basic > outfit > special 10) , and then use the stylist option. In the video I found, the sim then appears in her mermaid outfit ready to have her top or tail changed... but for me, it shows 3 other "special" outfits and simply applies some random top and shoes (??) to the mermaid outfit when I exit. I'd enter stylist until it randomly gave her an OK top, but the random shoes screw up the tail.

Maybe it has to do with CAS screens just being able to show 3 outfits per category, and 10 special outfits is clearly more than 3... because it shows the ones I saw listed as Special 1 - 3 when I used the outfit option to changer her into her mermaid outfit. But then I'm wondering how everyone else got it to work when you get special outfits for all sorts of things.

I'm already awaiting approval to join nraas' site so I can post there, but has anyone had this issue and found a way to make it work?
----------------------------------------------------------------

So, as the old site is offline I don't know if this user has indeed posted this issue and whether a solution was found. This is the exact same thing that happened to me. Can anyone tell me more about this?

She doesn't show up in Stylist already in the mermaid outfit? That's not what happens in my game. Are you using MC's Stylist? I haven't tried this with MC's Edit in CAS option.

Anyways, going back to the old site on the wayback machine here's something from the MasterController FAQ which isn't on the new site yet:

"Right-Clicking on an Outfit index will bring up a list containing all the available outfits for the current category, allowing you to choose an outfit above the third index. "

That's for MC's Stylist, or I guess other forms of CAS if you use MC's Integration module. Right clicking on an outfit index works for me for standard categories (i.e. Everyday), but I don't know about the Special category. You'd have to try it and see.

I have taken mermaids into MC's Stylist before but haven't had any random tops or shoes applied when exiting. When I do this I wait until the mermaid is in the water in mermaid form, then click on the sim>NRaas>MasterController>Stylist. So far all I've done is changed hairstyles and applied an accessory or two. I've never tried changing the top the sim was wearing.

I don't recall whether there were other special outfits showing up in Stylist. Possibly. I wouldn't click on those though. When customizing special outfits I find it better to only customize the specific outfit the sim is wearing and exit when I'm done. Stylist shouldn't have a problem with more than 3 outfits though. It will only display 3 options, but you can have more than 3 in a given category.

I have encountered some randomness when editing the scuba diving outfit on human (non-mermaid) sims. I once had a sim who came out of Stylist scuba diving in a full body overcoat (I don't often have this problem). So far though I can take the sim back into Stylist, apply the correct CAS parts, and the changes will eventually stick.

Off hand I wonder if tops have to be categorized in CAS a certain way to be valid for use on a mermaid. Maybe someone else would know. I'm not sure that would even be an issue.

I actually did just that, took my mermaid to CAS while swimming, using Nraas. But it appears that she has 5 special outfits and the mermaid one is the fifth, even though she was 'wearing' it at that time. So I only got to see and edit the first three, not the mermaid one....

Yes, I was using the "stylist" option by MC. It showed the first 3 outfits out of 5, and the mermaid was shown as special 5 when using MC - basic - outfit. And when I went ahead and recolored the scuba suit and saved, my mermaid was wearing a random suit on top of her tail, just like the original poster mentioned, so I ended up not saving and going back to main menu to get back to the ugly shells instead. I will try the right clicking today, hope that does work.

You can change the mermaid top using mirrors.

I know you can, but as far as I remember that just enables you to change the shell color. I was actually trying to change it to something else instead, like a swimming top or something like that.
