You've been playing a save game for 6 years???!!! That's amazing!! I play mine for about 20+ sim weeks and the lag gets too much. I think I need a better processor. Time to suck up to the hubby
I've just learnt how to install Ellacharmed's 'fixed' IP world, but I haven't played it long enough to determine if it's any better. I am definitely experiencing 5-10 second freezes, which I've never had them go that long before. I'm hoping it'll settle down. Thanks for the link! I'll give some of that a go . I'll have a look at that first link (talking about 4 files to put somewhere), too. However, the thread suggested a buttload of changes.. I absolutely love island worlds, but I need something that doesn't require hours of editing before I can play. Only because I only play a save for several months, so I really don't get too invested. If I get attached to my save, something will inevitably go wrong. Lol. No attachment means no crying when Murphy's Law kicks in. Haha.

What ciane has done in the link given above is provide a saved game all ready to load up and play, with some optional lot replacement suggestions. The pages of changes that follow are for players to re-create what she has done on an already ongoing IP save for the Do It Yourself crowd. It's not necessary to slog through all of those (unless one really wants to) since the changes are already incorporated in the ready to play save files.

An unaltered world, even with EllaCharmed's fixes, won't tend to settle down on its own. There are some residential lots that are hopelessly flawed (Scott, Medina, Los Amigos, Ichtaca for starters) to the extent where the sims living there cannot get in and out of their own houses. There are far too many households living on houseboats for things to work smoothly. The game engine goes nuts trying to route and re-route these inactive households around the problem areas. The world plays fine for many of us once these things are addressed one way or another.

On the six years, yep and I know I'm not the only one with such a long-running ongoing game. Can't really translate that into sim weeks because I play so slowly and only a couple of times a (real time) week when I can, and there are 16 Traveler mod connected worlds in there with "my" sims living in 5 of them whom I play in very slow and long rotations. The rest are the WA worlds, Uni, Oasis, custom vacation destinations (like Isla P), and places my sims used to live and still have distant relatives and old friends back there kicking around. But point is, I've never once thanks to the mods here had to abandon a world within this ongoing game because of poor performance, only a couple of times because I've wanted to.

Thanks for clarifying that. I've installed the IP save you supplied the link to. Thank you! I'll be sure to give it a go as soon as I get some motivation to start a new game, setting up my SP settings again (I know you can export settings, and I will learn one day, but it fries my little brain when I read the instructions. Lol). However, I'm sure the lagging will get to me soon enough and I'll be on that save quickly. Do I need to replace the original IP back? I have Ellacharmed's in place at the moment.

You can have Ellacharmed's fixes and use ciane's game save at the same time. There has been some discussion here in the recent past about whether it matters or helps at all to have both; I think the best conclusion we've come to is that Ella's fixes help a little even though ciane didn't have them in place when she created those save files.

For the record, I've never played ciane's saves and can only go on what others have reported. When I added Isla P to my mix of worlds in my ongoing game, she hadn't produced her magic yet so I was more in a Do It Myself type of situation back then, having learned where the problem lots were from reading about them and then watching how sims in and around them behaved for myself.
