Integration Crashing My Game

Post by Calista_Drake » July 19th, 2017, 2:28 am

Ever since I recently reinstalled ITF, I have been having issues with corruption, and with crashing in CAS. Specifically, if I try to edit a young adult or adult male's swimwear, only the top row of tops appear, then the game crashes to the desktop.

I've repeatedly started new game folders, but I always ended up with the same problem again. I even tried reinstalling the 1.67 patch, but that didn't help either.

As a last resort, I removed my mods folder. Without it, I was having no problems. So I made a new mods folder and put only my NRaas mods back, because after all, they couldn't possibly be the problem. Or so I thought. I was shocked to find out that I was wrong about that.

I removed all the NRaas mods and put all the other mods I'd been using in. No crashing. I put back Overwatch, Error Trap, Debug Enabler, and Master Controller and it's modules. The crashing came back again. Finally, I took out MC and its modules. No crashing. I put back MC alone. No crashing. Then I added in one module at a time, opening the game and trying it out each time. All was well until I put Integration back in.

Every other mod or module is fine, but if Integration is in my game, it will crash every single time I try to edit a young adult or adult male's swimwear. I downloaded a fresh copy of Integration, just in case the copy I had saved had somehow become corrupted. But after I extracted it into my mods folder, opened my game, selected a YA male in CAS and chose his swimwear to edit, I watched my game crash to the desktop again.

Can someone explain why this is happening? Is there anything I can do about it, other than playing without integration (or uninstalling ITF)?

Are you using the testing version of MC?

It might help narrow things down a bit if we could figure out:

--Is it really Integration causing this, or is it MC's version of CAS?
How are you getting these sims into CAS? If you leave out Integration and use a MC command to enter CAS or Stylist on an existing sim, does the crash still happen? Without Integration, other methods of using CAS are invoking EA's version of CAS.

-- If it's MC's version of CAS that is causing the problem, does it make any difference if you use MC > Settings > CAS > Show in Compact Form:Clothing or not? Another player here has reported a similar issue on Compact Form but with the Naked outfit. Of course both outfit types are going to share some of the top parts available.

And, now that you mention it, I did have my game crash on male swimwear while in MC's Stylist recently (just the other day). I put that down to being a one-off or having too long a game session running and just re-did things by switching off Compact View before getting to the swimwear outfit, and no crash but that's not really conclusive. I'll have to go back in and try again with and without Compact View when I get a chance.

I your using the testing version of MC make sure to get the MC Integration test version also
If you using MC v133 then make sure you have MC Integration v132
If you have the correct version of Integration for the MC version your using do you have MC Progression installed without Nraas SP that one needs both MC base and SP

The MC Progression crash would be on startup, not upon entering CAS. But good point on the version of Integration (I have the testing versions 134a and 134 respectively myself).

@sittingbear I have v.133 of MC and v.132 of Integration.

@igazor The only thing I really knew for sure was that with Integration in my mods folder, it crashed, and without it, it didn't. I've been trying to make new resident households for one of my CAW worlds, so the testing I did last night was in CAW in Edit Town, without the game running.

After reading your post, I tried placing the male from the CAS bin that I have been using for testing into my build & edit world, without editing his swimwear first. Then I used MC to take him into stylist, and it didn't crash. When I took him into CAS with MC, it did crash.

To make the residents for my town, I've been using a save in my build & edit town which I previously used to re-do my mod settings to save for importing into my games. So the mods were already set before I started working on these households, and MC's CAS was set to show everything in compact form. I've changed that and tried again with the same male, and this time CAS didn't crash on the swimwear.

So it appears the problem is now solved, since it's been 100% one or the other, depending on the presence or absence of the Integration module. Not only that, but on the one time a male sim was already wearing a complete outfit for his swimwear, so that the tops didn't open, it did not crash. So it would make sense that it's the same issue as with the naked outfit, since the naked top in swimwear is the same.

I have a few more households, from previous games, that I'm going to be testing to make sure they're OK. I had tried to place them into Hidden Springs to boost the starting population, so my single mother would hopefully have more than one or two watching and tipping as she played her guitar for tips, and make enough money at it to be worth her time. The game crashed when I tried to edit one of those males' swimwear in stylist right after I placed his household in the game, and I thought the household must have become corrupted somehow.

If this doesn't solve the problem, I'll let you know. If it does, thank you so much for asking the question that solved the problem. This has been very stressful, what with constantly losing my saves and having to start over with new game folders.

I am so happy! The saves I thought were corrupted, because of the crashing, are just fine, now that MS is set to no longer compress clothing

LOL, sorry please understand how strange this looked at first.

"Integration Crashing My Game"
"I am so happy!"

Those just looked really odd in summary view under Recent Changes like that. :)

This entire Compact View thing possibly causing crashes in MC CAS, but only on...bare male top parts (?) is new. I bet we figure out how to get rid of the issue eventually, especially since Compact View is so valuable on the usually busier categories like Everyday and Outerwear for those of us who have intolerable CAS category lag there otherwise.

But glad we figured out at least where the issue was coming from.

LOL! Yes, I guess that would look strange. Regarding it being a new issue, it only started happening after I reinstalled ITF, and then it very consistently crashed with the swimwear. So it seems like there must be some kind of connection.
