Butler/Maid won't enter home

Post by slymudbug » May 7th, 2017, 8:33 pm

When I hire a butler or maid they come to the house (run up to it), walk up to the door, immediately turn around, summon their car, and leave, never to come back. I only ran into this problem when I added the MC mod, and when I removed it, they went back to working properly after a Sim day or two. I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem, and if they have, if they've found a way around it.

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas. I have heard of this happening long ago but never heard of it being attributed to MasterController; usually another mod is found to be the cause or it's the fault of the residential lot somehow. The reason it seems unlikely to be this mod is that MC is a player-controlled command center and does not by itself change a thing about gameplay. Unlike many other mods here, it loads up its extensive sets of commands on sims, objects, and lots (and its optional CAS replacement) during the game's startup then sits back doing nothing at all unless/until a player selects one of those commands to run.

But, just to check...

- Which version of MC are you working with, what is your game's patch level?
- Are you certain that any MC add-ons (MC Cheats, etc.) are meant to go with the version of the base mod you have? You can't mix and match newer/older versions of each.
- After adding (and after removing) these mods from your Mods\Packages folder, did you clear the scriptCache.package and the other four cache files from your TS3 user game folder? This must done whenever the contents of Mods\Packages changes in any way.
- Have you tried a test run with NRaas mods only, none from other sources?
- Do you have NRaas Register in play, and which version? That's the one that provides control over Role and Service Sims and actually does run in the background doing stuff throughout gameplay.
- This is usually more of problem with Role Sims than Service, but is it possible that the assigned maid and butler were due or overdue to age up? If so, they need to do that offscreen in private and the push to do that can interfere with a simultaneous push to arrive at their assigned workplace. More typically though, with maids anyway, it's just the case that a different one is assigned the next sim day.
- Do you have <a class="wiki_link" href="/ErrorTrap">ErrorTrap</a> and any script logs from around the time of the refusal of the Service Sims to report to work to report?

I got the newest version of both the base and cheats, and I'm not sure what you mean by clearing the cache... but I only have those two mods and the mods that came with the download I needed to run mods. And I guess the aging up is possible, but they usually go to a certain community lot (along with most other pre-made sims, up to thirty or so) such as Eugi's, and it changes every few nights. They can't seem to leave, either, until they have to go to a job. I tried resetting a couple, and the next night they were back. but how do i clear the cache?

There are five temporary cache files in the TS3 user game folder in Documents that need to be deleted whenever the contents of Mods\Packages changes in any way, They will regenerate on the next launch. They do not hold critical game data, they cache it but often get clogged with outdated information. Many of us delete them all out of habit before every startup (or after every quit, same thing).
CASPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package (this is the important one for addition/removal of script mods like MC)
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package (this one is optional)

I would also strongly recommend (at some point) adding in ErrorTrap for other kinds of game cleanup and error reporting. There may just be something wrong with those particular Service Sims that isn't making itself apparent otherwise.
