GoHere and Food & Drinks
GoHere and Food & Drinks
I have a small room at the library that I would like to turn into a tiny cafe. But it's so small that sims would carry their drinks and food to eat or drink all over the library instead of staying in the room, despite the fact that the room already has chairs (I checked that they're usable). Can GoHere help with this by preventing sims holding drinks or food from exiting the room?

Maybe. It's worth a try if you aren't already using GoHere. But sometimes what this really means is that the sims think the chairs on other parts of the lot are more comfortable than the ones right in front of them. Perhaps the chairs could use an upgrade?
And sometimes I think sims do these things just to be annoying. I have a residential lot in one of my worlds that is actually four separate buildings. One of them houses a "dining hall," just off the tremendously huge industrial strength kitchens. Sometimes the sims who live there (the "staff," if you will) grab their food and walk all the way across the lot to another building to eat it in a small break room that also has a table and chairs as well as a comfy sofa. I find that if I lock the doors of the dining hall on them once they are inside, just long enough to get them to sit down where they already are, then they stop doing this for a while.

If I am remembering correctly one of our members solved that type of behavior using Anis' Have Coffee With Me mod to keep sims in a meeting room where one of the sims was conducting a lecture. The sims sat in the chairs in the meeting roomand had their coffee. Might be worth a try at your library.

@brappl - That's right, that is a good idea. And in my dining hall example I could of course have used icarus' brilliant mod to set the table once it became available to us.
But sometimes sims autonomously grab a coffee, drink, or food on their own, just one of them at a time, so there really isn't always a group or even a single sim for the player to manage.

I was having this issue with sims taking food and drinks up the the 3rd floor of the library where there are skill building things like chess tables and some family fun tables. Sims were setting their dirty plates everywhere on the floor. I figured out some of it had to do with the fact that it was the +40 moonlet in that room from a recent renovation while the lower floors weren't as nice as well as comfy chairs.

@brappl - I have Ani's coffee mod, but as igazor mentioned, I'm primarily concerned with inactive sims who grab drinks/food autonomously. I want them to be able to do that, but just stay in the room while eating/drinking.
@Chain_Reaction - Is it possible to make a door detect that a sim is holding food/drink and not allow that sim to pass through? Sort of like door filters based on the content of a sim's inventory?
