Error trap w/ dreams manager

Post by iciloo » September 24th, 2019, 12:20 am

Hi there,
I'm having an issue with NRAAS error trap. For one of my sim it constantly keeps resetting him (and changing his image) and the message I'm getting is "dreams and promise managers" is null. I tried to download the dreamer mod from nraas but it didn't work either so I just got rid of it. So it's consistently doing this no matter what I do. Any advice?

Edit: Looking at the file, it says: "Log-Time: 09/24/2019 00:12:17 System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required. #0: 0x00087 callvirt in Sims3.Gameplay.Opportunities.Sims3.Gameplay.Opportunities.Opportunity:CheckTimeoutCondition (Sims3.Gameplay.Opportunities.Opportunity/OpportunitySharedData/TimeoutCondition,Sims3.Gameplay.EventSystem.EventListener,Sims3.Gameplay.Utilities.DateAndTime)

Can we please get the script log or some samples in their entirety? One way is to drag the xml script log file into a response on this thread or, if it's easier or if the message board editor is being uncooperative, you could zip some of the logs together if more than one, upload them to a third party file host, and provide a link so we can view them. It may be that the sim merely has a "bad" opportunity in progress that needs to somehow be dismissed.

The Dreamer mod is not going to help with a sim whose Dream Manager is already broken, but it can help prevent this from happening in the first place if it is in play early enough. May I ask if you had trouble getting the mod to load or was it the case that it just didn't have the desired effect on this sim, for whom it may have been introduced too late? If this is only one sim that it is happening to and we cannot find an obvious cause for the breakage, often a MasterController Reset of the sim would be suggested. But sometimes ErrorTrap is reacting to what it deems to be a corrupt sim who does need to be replaced. ErrorTrap doesn't cause error conditions, it reports and traps them so that the game doesn't crash and so we can get some (hopefully) useful information about what was going wrong.

I did a MasterController Reset of the sim but here's some excerpts from the XML log (some of this stuff has other Mods):

I can't begin to read that as it has no formatting, maybe our developer can. Can we please get the XML files in their entirety -- the entire files, not excerpts from them? If the ErrorTrap logs contain information about other mods, that can be valuable as well.

I'm not really sure how to attach an XML file but I realized that I had opened it in another browser rather than WordPad which I believe is what it's supposed to be opened in and it seems quite more readable: https://pastebin.com/tFzsGh95

Much better, although I am puzzled why you are not including the entire script log. We actually do want to see what other script mods are present, they would appear (for those that actually do appear) in a list after the point where you stopped copy/pasting.

Unless you have a totally pirated version of the game, no one is going to yell at you for having other mods in play (well, we wouldn't yell at game pirates either, but other things happen instead). If you have a mod in play that is interfering with NRaas mods to the point where things become unsupportable, then we need to know so we can have a rational discussion about that instead.

Okay, I probably could have figured this out before if I read every digit of the unformatted version properly (and had half a bottle of tylenol for the resulting headache), but I think I see this issue now. Your sim Burgdorf is in a modeling career. This is a custom career with career based opportunities, correct? Would they be or have been assigned such a career opportunity? If so, that opportunity is broken and needs to be dismissed, if it can be.

From where did this custom career come? I believe the one from MTS might be outdated, the one from MissyHissy's site would be much more likely to work properly plus she still provides support for her career mods. Or am I reading that wrong and Burgdorf has a different career entirely?

Nope you're completely right it's an opportunity based career. Yeah it came from MTS. So all I have to do is get him to quit the modeling career?

Yes, that should do it especially since if this opportunity is broken then it or another broken one is likely to come along again at higher job levels. If the sim remains broken after having been moved out of the career, then try an MC Reset on them (again) or the old fashioned kind of reset whereby you evict the entire household to the side of the map in Edit Town, copy the residential lot down to the bin, bulldoze, replace with a copy, and move everyone back in again without having left the screen.
