Lots and Lots of Errors

Post by immabanana99 » October 25th, 2018, 3:24 pm

So you guys I have almost every Nrass Mod installed into my game, including the big ones Story Progression and Master Controller. Everything was going relatively fine as I was playing in a relatively new hood that was empty at the start(Custom World Storybrook County). As I played I noticed that I was having a severe problem with pudding face towns and decided to do some googling on how to fix that. I found a page that suggested using Awesomemod and Nrass together. I have never used Awesomemod before so I followed the instructions on the page I found to a T.

The author said that both mod suites could be used together you just had to make sure to use AwesomeConfig to turn every setting off accept the nomorepudding one under CAS options. I did that. Then ingame I tinkered with Nrass SP settings to make random immigrants more likley to appear in game and also changed the slider range for new incoming Sims. All was fine and Dandy for the first 20 or so minutes of playing in my game with all of these settings.

Then out of nowhere I start getting slews of error trap script error notifications. In all my years of using Nrass mods I have never gotten so many notifications. I would exit out of them only for 10+ more to pop back up. They all seemed to be mostly about random sims and pets living in town but a few times my own household sims would pop up.

I thought maybe the problem was awesomemod so I deleted the mods from mods folder and also wiped my cache files just to be sure and reloaded my game again. Fine again for another 10 minutes before another flood of script warnings.

So help you guys. I can't figure this out and all of the script errors I am getting I can't find info for around the net. I even redownloaded all my nrass mods just in case one was out of date and that was the problem.

Lots and Lots of Errors

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

First of all, if you wish to use Awesome together with NRaas mods there is no need to deactivate all of the reachable options on Awesome's configuration manager. I have no idea where that is coming from, but it is misinformation. We offer this page that explains how some NRaas mods become redundant in the presence of Awesome, but nothing that would cause the meltdown you have described whether Awesome's other settings are activated or not. Further, many of the things Awesome does are not reachable by way of the config tool or by any other means, it's just not as customizable as NRaas mods. But again, these things are up to the player as to whether they want Awesome's features, they aren't really dangerous in and of themselves.
Awesome

Awesome is not required to foster genetic variation among arrving immigrants and homeless NPCs in town, this is a common misconception as well. It's fine if you want to go that route (and can make it work), but it's not necessary as NRaas StoryProgression together with the SP Population add-on module and some understanding of how its settings work can provide the same relief from zero-slider pudding worlds. But let's get your game working again and then we can return to that.

The logs you are sharing by upload show that the Trait Managers of all of the sims in town are broken, and this would have come about by the improper removal of Awesome, not its presence. Awesome is a complicated Core Mod and cannot be removed from an ongoing game without a special removal command being entered on the cheats console first to prep the ongoing save for such a removal otherwise bad things like this will tend to happen. What we would really need to see in order to be helpful are some samples (doesn't have to be all of them) of the recurring errors you were getting when Awesome was still in place. The game in its timeline from where it is now with Awesome already having been improperly removed is probably toast, I'm afraid. Hopefully you have a way to revert to a prior save so we can figure this out better?

Lots and Lots of Errors

Post by immabanana99 » October 25th, 2018, 4:25 pm

Well now I know. For some reason when I was googling pudding solutions I couldn't seem to find much information about using Nrass mods alone other than changing setting to have progression pull immigrants from the Sim Bin - which I also feel like would eventually result in more pudding just slightly different pudding.

Unfortunately, I was not using rotating saves for that game so I guess it is toast.

If I start a new neighborhood now will that cause errors from improper removal to go away?
Could using traveller in my current save to move my family to another hood be a solution?

Lots and Lots of Errors

Starting a new game now would not bring the effects of Awesome having been removed into play because the new world instance spawned will not have "seen" Awesome or have been affected by it.

Thinking about it some more, I guess you could try putting Awesome back in from where you are now to see if that fixes things though or at least changes things up enough so the original errors that we haven't seen yet return, then if successful either keep Awesome or remove it properly and move forward.

Moving the sims around to a new world within the same game alone I do not believe will help if their Trait Managers are broken. They will just bring these issues with them to their new home.

Lots and Lots of Errors

Post by immabanana99 » October 25th, 2018, 7:19 pm

Adding Awesomemod back in seems to have done the trick for the spammy error notifs.

However, I am now getting massive lag after about 30 minutes of play time. The game will freeze for about a minute(small animations like the plumbob still going and sound as well) then start again for just a few seconds before lagging again. Before this mess I never had lag issues this bad.

As for the errors before Awesome was installed, that  isn't happening anymore either. During the entire time I played I only got these(one was at startup of the save file): http://www.mediafire.com/folder/tdghktt ... Error_Trap

TBH I am not completely computer illiterate but I am when it comes to modding so I can't make heads nor tells of the error trap logs.

Lots and Lots of Errors

My fault for not mentioning this prior, but in the future whether uploading to a third party or to here (when we get the upload mechanism working properly on the site) please zip multiple script logs together if you could. It makes them much easier for us to work with that way.

Any ErrorTrap log/log section that begins with "Correction Log" or "Dereferencing" would be routine ET operations and are not anything to worry about. We all get these at least once per game session or sim day. ET is detecting and reacting to fragments of items, those that are already totally corrupt, or just do not need to be in your current world any longer like duplicate homework assignments or that last one that never gets turned in after a sim ages up to YA. You have a few of those logs.

On the others, now we can make some progress. You're getting a repeated error on an Imaginary Friend doll who keeps trying to animate but they can't because they are still stuck never having been retrieved in a mailbox somewhere in town. This is often, but not always, the result of switching active households just before or after the mail had been delivered that day or your sims just not checking their mail. MC can be used to clean these up so they just go away and stop creating stress on the game and repeated error conditions.
Imaginary-Friend

You also have one error on a tourist visiting your world from France. It looks like a custom idle animation error, which can be caused by an outdated or incompatible mod that handles idle animations - what sims do when they are standing still not doing anything else. Or it could be nothing to worry about if it doesn't keep happening, looks like that one was soon after the game session started up. If the tourists are going to be problematic for you though, then tourism can be switched off entirely through Register on the City Hall or in-game computer menus.

You might also want to run a MasterController Reset Everything from the Town Menu on City Hall on this world to clear up any residual issues now, if you haven't already done so, and see if that helps.
