My sim is MISSING...

Post by ladybarefeet » August 1st, 2018, 3:17 pm

Mercei has disappeared. One moment she was napping on a bench, the next moment I received a bunch of messages that there were errors and then she was removed from my household and never seen again... Her husband now sees her as a "friend" in his friend panel, her kids still see her as their mother.

The last thing I recall is she was waiting to nap so she could get "enlightened" from a potion she drank... as soon as she napped, she hit level 10 in Nectar making and then the errors and the mysterious disappearance occurred.

I have uploaded all the error files in case any of those give clues as to her whereabouts.

I Saved As when Ieft the game in case I need to return to an earlier save. I assume it'll be easier to do that than to actually bring her back from where ever she went.

1 - GoHere, all versions of it, is totally incompatible with the LLAMA transport booths. Even having one such booth in a world, which is useless since no one could use it to transport anywhere, will cause the mod to have heartburn.

2 - I don't recognize the exact OW and ErrorTrap errors on your sims, but that certainly looks like corruption to me. I suspect the errors are more like symptoms of a sim gone all wrong, not pointing to the actual cause. Do you have any third party mods that enhance potions and elixirs perhaps that might be acting up? But regardless, I would revert and not try to play through or fix that.

I do have a Mix Many Elixir and Mix More Alchemy Recipes mods... have had them forever, never a situation like this before. The missing sim, Mercei, was nowhere near a LLAMA booth. I've got a couple in the game, but never do use them so I didnt notice an issue there. I will observe for that too and get rid of one or the other. I forgot why I found GoHere so necessary but I do know why I have LLAMAs... its so that sims can get across islands easier (when it occurs to them to actually use the LLAMA, a thing I haven't verified yet).

I am in the old save now, prior to the disappearance and have napped, gained a skill and she didnt disappear this time... seems to be all is well for now.

I wasn't saying that Mercei got lost in a LLAMA booth, I was explaining what the first two script errors from GoHere were about.

I use subways to connect islands to the mainland and each other in such worlds. It looks ridiculous at first, but some feeble attempts to bury the entrances in vegetation often help.

Subways under the water?? I had not thought of that! I can use those instead. I didn't know those first errors were due to the LLAMA either. Good to know.

So, the errors with Mercei had to do with elixirs possibly? Yet that correlation may not have been the cause of her disappearance?

GoHere errors out like that when it considers various world lot routing paths for sims and it encounters a LLAMA booth to figure into the calculation. Even if the booth it finds doesn't go anywhere or anywhere helpful and even if the sim is going to end up taking a different route anyway. We can't tell from those logs which sims are causing the errors to be thrown. I find the mod valuable enough to keep it in play, especially since LLAMAs are hardly (at least in my part of the world) realistic.

Right, I was suspecting the potions/elixirs thing only because you mentioned them. Maybe Chain or one of the others will see something in those logs that I didn't see.

I wish I didn't love mods so much... I wish I could just purge them from my game. Alas, I've tried and I didn't last a day.

After due consideration, we have decided not to use the above quote as a featured testimonial for NRaas in our next Newsletter. There's just something about it...I don't know, that could have been worded better. :)

Oh poop... I don't mean Nraas mods...I mean all others. I don't even lump Nraas in with any other mods... I forget that they are mods, in fact.

You're right, I could have worded that better :p I would NEVER EVER remove the Nraas mods from my game... I have never tried to play without Nraas mods, never will.

So, this is weird. I went back to that save to where the sim never disappeared... but still her relationships are gone. She's not married anymore. If the sim disappearance never took place, she never lever the game, why is she no longer married? This is bizarre. Good thing I can just cheat everything back.
