Career Opportunity leads to Sim Reset instead of Completing opportunity

Post by Draganies » June 28th, 2017, 1:05 am

Well the title pretty much says it all I think. I have a sim in the ghost hunter career, in Moonlight Falls. He has the opportunity to "Help Investigation". When I send him to city hall to complete the opportunity everything goes fine until he's supposed to leave the building. Instead of the opportunity being completed he is reset and I get an error trap message. The opportunity is gone when this happens but he keeps getting opportunity again (so that's not a big concern) but the same issue keeps happening. I've tried restarting the game (and deleting the cache files before starting the game). I saved a copy of my sim to the bin and started a new game (still in Moonlight Falls) and the problem is still happening. I don't really understand how to read the error trap report and I don't know what else to do. I really don't know what I'm doing xP

Please help.
Thanks so much

Out of date tuning mod of some kind looks like. I'm not immediately sure what kind of reward that opportunity gives but if you are that's the mod type you're looking for.

I don't know what kind of reward it gives either. Do you know how I can check if a mod is out of date? I'm pretty sure I only have NRAAS mods (I know it's sad I can't remember what I've done with this game xP) I'm soooo new to modding the sims and it's so different from how other games I've played are modded that I'm .. really super confused by everything xP Like, for instance, how you knew it's a tuning mod (or even what a tuning mod is)...

Thanks!

In the future, if you could please, upload script errors for us to help interpret rather than pasting them into messages. Many of them become unreadable this way or drop the parts we really need to see (this one hasn't seemed to do that).
<a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/How+To+Uplo ... +Upload</a>

This is the key part of the script error that would make us suspect an out of date or incompatible tuning mod from another source. It is also possible that this opportunity reward is just broken, as some of them are.
System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.

A Script Mod is basically a bunch of code that has been compiled and runs when the mod is invoked, either all of the time while the game is running alongside of the game engine or when called upon by a user driven command or conditions in the game to run. Most of the NRaas mods are of this type. A Tuning Mod is something that loads up when the game starts and changes (tunes) parameters that the game or another mod uses. Tuning Mods generally do not show up by name in these log reports, so it's impossible for us to tell much of the time which ones, if any, the player may have in place.

Pull all of your package files out of Mods\Packages except for the NRaas mods. Delete the file called scriptCache.package at the top level of your user game folder. If you have extensions hidden in your operating system, it will appear as just scriptCache, but that would be the same file. Then try a test run of the same events. If the error no longer happens, then it was being caused by something you just pulled out.

Ever since Patch 1.38 there is 25% chance that this Opportunity will bug out with a Combo Rabbithole. But recently not sure when it happened but it started during the last few months I've noticed it seems too bug out 100% of the time with a Combo Rabbithole.

@sittingbear - These combo rabbit hole opportunity redemption failures were supposed to have been fixed with Overwatch v122. So in your experience, this particular one is still resisting the OW fix?

@Draganies - If this is the case, then it's an EA combo lot failure. None of the combo lots worked with any of the opportunities (or something almost as severe) prior to this mod update. You may have to try this all again except with a standalone City Hall in play instead of one of the combination lots in order to confirm.

But that Opportunity is supposed to be turned in at the Police Station at least in SV anyway

@Igazor Oops! Sorry. I forgot I was supposed to upload, but I remember reading that now and I will do that in the future.

Unfortunately, I only have NRAAS mods and it sounds like none of those should be the problem. I'll try editing the town so that I don't have a combo City Hall/Police Station. Thanks for the help! I'll post again when I find out if that works.
