Missing Plants

Post by TreyNutz » June 1st, 2017, 2:12 pm

I've uploaded some ErrorTrap script errors in connection with this post. They are all correction logs.

I'm playing in a TS3 version of Strangetown. My sims moved there from another CC world (Bellatrix) via Traveler. They bought an additional residential lot right across the street and planted approximately 170 plants. The lot is otherwise empty and has little else on it. Two of the sims in the household (of 24) traveled to Oasis Landing and returned without any issues.

Later I enrolled 6 of them at university. Upon returning home I got script errors similar to the ones I uploaded. Two of the sims had made a lot of nectar while at university, so the food ingredients being destroyed seemed to make sense but I can't tell which world they were being destroyed from. I didn't think much of the script errors at the time since they were correction logs. One of my sims harvested the plants, I saved and quit. Later I reloaded the save to find most of the plants gone. Almost the entire garden was missing.

So, I loaded up the save from just before they left university and tried again. Upon arrival in Strangetown I got similar script errors as the first time (which I uploaded). The plants were initially on the lot just like last time. I saved, quit, reloaded and the plants were gone. [Note: The script errors were generated once Strangetown had finished loading from traveling back home, both times.]

I did a search on NRaas and found 3 threads on Chatterbox about missing plants and in one of those threads igazor essentially asked if removing ErrorTrap had any effect. So I tried that. I removed ErrorTrap, cleared the scriptCache file, loaded up the game at university, returned home again, plants were there as before. Saved, quit, reloaded the game and the plants were still there. They had not disappeared like the last two times. If I add ET back to my game and load up this save, the plants are there (which I'd expect) but no script errors like last time. I'm not sure whether travel has anything to do with the correction logs or whether it's only a matter of time before ET does a clean up routine and generate those correction logs again.

Back to the save where the plants didn't go missing (and in which I removed ET): I made sure all the plants were harvested and then I used MC>Object Info>Not Inventory on the lot. There are food objects listed equal to the number of gardening soils and equal to the number of HarvestPlant, HarvestPlantFrostable, plus PlantLargeTree entries. I think that's normal; I've noticed that correlation before. That is, each gardening plant seems to have 3 entries in MC>Object Info: a food object, a gardening soil, and either a HarvestPlant, HarvestPlantFrostable or PlantLargeTree depending on the type of plant. If I use Object Stats to flush those food objects (but leave the plants and garden soils), save and quit, on reload all the plants are gone. I assume these food objects are what my sim actually plants into the ground, and it seems if these are deleted the entire plant will disappear on next load.

After doing that experiment it dawned on my that I don't know whether the food objects that are supposed to be on that lot were affected by ET's clean up routines. So I loaded up the save in university once again (3rd time), had my sims travel home, got similar script error correction logs. I had a sim harvest the plants and checked MC>Object Info>Not Inventory. This time all but 7 of the food objects on that lot (5 flame fruit and 2 mushrooms) were gone leaving just the HarvestablePlants, HarvestablePlantFrostable, PlantLargeTree and gardening soils on the lot. (This has been a bit variable, the first time the life fruit and flame fruit plants survived, the 2nd time all plants were lost, this 3rd attempt had 5 flame fruit and 2 mushrooms survive.) I saved, quit, reloaded and found that all but the 5 flame fruit plants were gone.

My suspicion is that ErrorTrap is removing food objects necessary for the plants, and that is why they disappear when I reload the game. I'm going to leave ET out of my game for now. The plants are getting to the end of their life cycle and it shouldn't be too long before I harvest everything out of them. Plus, it's too late in the season to replant. I'll put ET back in once the plants have all died.
