Traffic - Adding Disable Carpool

Post by Sydserious » January 27th, 2014, 7:18 pm

Hey guys. As you know I defeated the frog and I'm bored so I'm back to looking at this stuff again. Don't everyone leave at once. : )

On the list and in Twallan's Traffic code notes he mentioned possibly adding this feature in. For people that don't use SP or the corresponding Career module, they currently have no way to turn this off unless they use Buzzler's which is really old. So it is really something that has been needed for a long time. Also, because Twallan was thinking about it - I'd like to at least give it a try.

I picked Traffic because it is so small and I've looked at Buzzler's mod somewhat but was wondering if you guys think this is something that in fact can actually be done without having worked in programming as a career (this is a hobby for me, I used to sell candy...for real).

Just wanted to get your thoughts.

I don't see why it can't be done, I'll look into it :)

Yup, small mod, it took me 10 minutes to look into it :P

I confirm it can be done, all tasks run on their own so you can do your own task for the carpooldisabler, add the alarmtask on world loaded and that should do it :)

LOL....thank you JunJay. Between the time I posted this and now, I have gotten sidetracked on something totally unrelated to the Sims so wouldn't have been able to do anything for a few weeks. Thinking about this though, I know several people have complained since ITF came out about the hover taxis appearing in non-future worlds and it seems like Twallan was going to look at that too but I can't find any notes on that. I would think Traffic would be the mod most appropriate for that also so Traffic is probably going to be a bigger challenge than I thought. I'll be checking in and still available to test anything if you need. : )

Is the report about the taxi's or the Sims buying the cars with SP? I thought it was the latter.

Just realized SP has an option to do this... Career: Allow Carpool.

Hey guys!! Ya'll have been so busy! Congrats on everything. I wanted to pop a quick note on this. Chain, I realize SP with the Career module has the carpool functionality. That was originally acknowledged in my initial post...the problem is that people who do not use SP and that use SP without the career module, don't have access to a way to disable carpooling. That is why I believe Twallan was contemplating adding that functionality to Traffic - see his notes in the code.

On the taxis issue, I posted it backwards. People want to build/use custom worlds with a futuristic theme but are unable to switch to the hover taxis. I had it backwards...sorry for the confusion.

I'm back at work and I do not see how you guys juggle both....I barely have time to sleep! You guys are amazing. Thanks....just wanted to clarify this before I head back into the trenches tomorrow. : )

'Doh. I missed your mention in the original post, sorry. I've been reading too much code and not enough text. :)
