Save paintings with gallery?

Post by C-Dark » September 14th, 2019, 7:22 am

Thanks for the tip, I will try later on, but now I have another question:
I read somewhere else that it shall be possible to save an art gallery with own paintings when
they are not framed.

I really wanna test it, but all my paintings are already framed.
How can I unframe them, is it possible?

The method KokosnootSpecerij described works for all sim-created things, like paintings, potions etc that would be lost if the lot is saved to the library.
Sadly I haven't found a way yet to unframe paintings yet, I tried, too.

C-Dark, I have not tried KokosnootSpecerij's option, but I have tried nearly every other tip I found on the internet. What I have found is that almost nothing we create in paintings and photos carry over when saved to the library. Not community lots and not even when I have saved the family with the home. I don't think the game is meant to save some of that stuff. Every time I've saved a home I made and decorated with Sim paintings and photos, they have always been blank when I place that same home into a new town or lot. Family or no family in them. All prom and seasonal family pictures are blank, all paintings done by Sims are blank. Sculptures do carry over though.

I don't like this either, because you are correct when you said more sims visit the gallery. Same with the library if you place written books in them. The more stuff sims can find in those places, the more sims will visit. If you expand the gym, more sims go to the gym...it's the same in all community lots. Though you do not just have to place Sim paintings. Just adding more things for sims to view in the art gallery is enough to bring in more Sims, I just add EA's other paintings and things into them. (I generally pick paintings I don't often use in my Sims houses) Also, books rarely carry over either, the titles are always missing on them, even though the book cover is there.

I don't frame my paintings because I've lost so many in the past. But, if you put the paintings in a sim inventory or in one of the WA treasure chests and save that sim with that chest to the library your paintings and things put in the treasure box will be preserved that way. I then pop that sim into the new home unload the paintings and treasures, add the family and remove the extra sim back to the clipboard. Maybe I will frame a painting or two this weekend that I don't care about and try them framed. I've also had them preserved by putting the boxes in the household inventory before moving the family, but that is with traveler in play, not the house to the library.

Save paintings with gallery?

Hi again, sorry for late response. I needed to porter my town to fresh world (the one I build myself - had to work on it a bit befor moving).

So I found a way, it also took me a while until I finished ;-)
1. place an Easal in your Artgallery
2. Click the easal with your active best art sim (paint-level) (or choose from low to higer level to get more painting varities)
3. choose Nraas/Debugenbler
4. there are two options available look for the one which has the option:
5. CreateCanvasAndParent
6. choose size and let game play a second
Now a random painting is dispayed.
DO NOT put a CANVAS on.

Befor exporting art gallery from town edit, click the gallery wall /nraas, Debugenabler: Set lot owner Zero (or similiar expression).

I have redocorated the EA Artgallery from Twinbrook, 30x30. If you like, you can use mine (in this folder is a package file which goes to your library folder and two pictures of it)
