Thought bubbles mystery....

Post by JohnL83 » September 11th, 2019, 10:15 am

I know this will likely never be solved, sometimes they seem rather straight forward and other times you don't have a clue. I have a sim, Jacob, who is supposedly very well liked. He has no Sims in town with a less than 50% liking gate. In this particular game I rarely play other families, so as far as I know he has not had a chance to do anything "bad". Yet out of nowhere over half the Sims that see him in passing get a negative thought bubble. (ie his face with a line through it)
When Jacob has tried to talk to that sim, and maybe pin down if they are upset with him for some reason, there is generally not even a negative reaction. (I say this because sometimes with Sims, if their last interaction went poorly or they saw them cheating, after the first comment, even if it's positive, it's followed by the slider going down instead of up)

Does anyone have any further insight to this? He is a politician and at level 10. But he's never done any bad things in office, like stealing from the campaign fund or anything. And Jacob has no problem getting anyone to donate to his campaign either. Sometimes he's even had his very best friends see him and get one of these bubbles. For the record I do not play the celebrity stuff, it's all turned off and I even went to MC and turned of the celeb false news report (or whatever that is named) for added measure.

Oh yes and he and his spouse both have the faithful moodlet and have had since they got together.

I've seen this to. I don't think it always means what it we think it means. My own sim gets this thought bubble when he was going to interact with another sim but I have him do something else. It could simply be that the sim was going to interact with yours but the game is pushing them to do something else canceling the interaction and triggering the thought bubble. I also see that thought bubble when my sim wants to do something like painting autonomously but I stop them to do something else. It's probably just a cancelation thought bubble in those cases kinda hard to tell sometimes since EA likes to recycle things like thought bubbles for multiple things.

You know, this does make a lot of sense. Since they are all high liking gates everyone is happy to see him and perhaps several try to talk to him at once and it gets canceled or they can't get to him.

When I read your response I realized you also get that with chairs and things, like if the Sim was going to sit, but someone else takes the seat or the user cancels the interaction. It's not that they hate the chair. LOL Thank you!

It's an easy mistake though, I have some enemy sims who do that every time they see each other, but then they also grumble or complain or yell when that enemy is near. So you have to watch for the combo I suppose.
