preventing minor pets and wildflowers from spawning

Post by Still-playing-sims3-93 » August 11th, 2019, 12:07 pm

Hi, I know there's a mod on MTS that does exactly just that, but if it's possible to get it done with just the nraas mods I have, I'd prefer to not add another mod to my game. Does anyone know how to get rid of minor pets and wildflowers in a specific world?

There may be some Retuner magic that can be done there. But I just did a search on the game's master tuning file and got over 1,400 hits on the word "spawner," so it may be a bit complicated to work through all of that.

This may be overly simplistic, but would it not be easier to just get rid of all of the unwanted spawners in a specific world? That would be by way of MasterController, on City Hall or an in-game computer MC > Object Stats > (try Not Inventory and Local), select the unwanted spawner objects to Flush (force delete).
(MC Cheats add-on module required)

The downside of doing it this way is that if you add lots to this world at a later time, you may be adding some of the spawners back in so those lots would have to be checked upon being added. I'm also not sure if MC sees and can reach spawners that would be on festival lots during a season other than current one, if you have Seasons and use festival lots.

Thanks Igazor :D I do have the Cheats add-on iirc, so I'll try this method. I don't think I'll be adding any lots (no space, and the existing lots look to beautiful to bulldoze) so that won't be a problem. I'll check if it works on festival lot.

Deleting the spawners is an issue because minor pets and wildflowers spawn from every spawner type so you'd have to delete every spawner in the world to stop it.

To stop minor pets for worlds other than Appaloosa Plains with Retuner
Sims3.Gameplay.Abstracts / MinorPets / kMinorPetsAllowedInWildNonEP5Worlds set to 0,0,0,0

Wildflowers
Sims3.Gameplay.Objects / Wildflower / kMaxWildflowersInWorld = 0

I should have known those furry little critters (and their cousins the wildflowers) would be more resistant to such a simple sounding solution. Sorry for taking this in the wrong direction, I guess Retuner is a much better way to go. :(

I always just remove all the spawner's I don't want in my worlds with MC >Object Stats> Not Inventory. You can do it world wide from City Hall or individually from the lot. Easy peasy.
Funny this post sort of coincides with my post I started yesterday. :P

I think I'll go with the Retuner method, seems straight forward approach. Igazor's method didn't work, though I did delete a few spawners at least :)

Btw, how do you check what Retuner option you'll need without asking on forums? I'd assume you'd need to check in the program files folder and use the search option in the game files to look for keywords??

"furry little critters (and their cousins the wildflowers)" ah, igazor is demonstrating his extensive knowledge on taxonomy ;)

The file to keyword search is the game's master tuning file. It's available here, at the bottom of this page. It's okay that it says Patch 1.63, the later patches did not change things.

Kingdom, Phylum, something or other...no wait, I remember.
King Phillip ...did something Over having to do with Soup (or Vodka). There, that didn't take very long. :P

Personally I search the game core files so I can check exactly how those tuning values are used in the code but obviously this method is for programmers. The file igazor linked you to should do if you use specific keywords for what you want like 'wildflower' instead of 'spawner' which will overwhelm you with results.
