What Happened to My Sim???

Post by JohnL83 » July 14th, 2019, 10:50 pm

I went to play one of my core family's children. A triplet daughter Aurora Crabtree who moved away a few sim weeks ago with her husband Dax Crabtree and toddler daughter. I came into their home of a morning and sent her to work as usual. She's a level 6 cook. I tried to make it so she hung with co-workers, but it said I had to meet someone first. I was like, that's odd, but whatever, maybe as a NA sim she just worked but didn't meet anyone yet. Never mind that I have SP set to auto meet everyone at work, but I didn't really think much of it and went on with the day.

It wasn't until I tried to get she and her husband to sleep in the same bed that I noticed the problem! He wouldn't get in bed with her and when I held the mouse over his image it said he was her acquaintance!!! Okay, easily fixed, perhaps they split up while I was away, but never got notified? NOPE! He wasn't even listed as an ex! So then I went to her look at her known friends and she only had like 3 friends! All of her parents, siblings and half the town she once knew were no longer known to her! Oddly enough she still knew and was related to her daughter and she still had the grayed out friends from when she and her sisters went to University, but she didn't have her sisters, brother, parents or school mates and best friends listed at all! (this family knows the whole town to some degree or other)

What happened? I've had sims reset many times with no ill effects such as that! I do think I remember her getting reset once, a while back. But what would have caused her to lose all her connections and only keep a the friends from University and her daughter? I never got a notification on this, but could this occur if she was recovered as a lost sim? I have had one or two lost sims over the course of this particular game/town, but I never noticed any such dire concequences from that!

The first thing I always do when I have problems is "Fix Homeworld" especially after traveling. Hopefully someone else will have some ideas if that doesn't work. After fixing homeworld, I'd save AS, quit and reload.

My guess is that a duplicate sim was created upon travel re-entry and Overwatch (or ErrorTrap) deleted the "wrong" sim once it noticed two of them. I've had this happen a couple of times but caught it right away and re-played. I guess your choices are to either go back in the timeline to a prior save from before the Uni term was over and re-play or move forward with the fake replacement sim that no one has seemed to be suspicious of even though they don't all remember her.

That does sound pretty peculiar. Was traveling recently involved? Moved away where? Are you using any other script mods besides these? Do you have DebugEnabler installed and have you been clicking around in it?

She had not traveled anywhere in a while. She and her sisters went to Uni just a few Sim-days after aging up. All 3 of them had been back and living at home for a couple of sim months before getting hitched and moving out. (50 days = a year by my settings and my teens go to HS for 4 years)
She was the last to move out of home and lived with my core family until the baby grew to a toddler. Then I had them move out into her own home. Since then she has come to a few family gatherings just fine and her parents had visited her as well. So IDK what happened. To make an already long story short, I just went back to a previous save and everything was fine. (I generally keep about 3 saves of each game/town until I'm sure all is okay with the latest saves) So something must have occurred between the last two saves. Thankfully not much had been lost between the two games, I'd only played for about an hour RT since that last good save. So I just had to see another new birth and a couple of elders age up again. :)

I suppose it was just some odd glitch. Yes I use DebugEnabler and perhaps I did something I shouldn't have done? I have only had it for a couple of months and don't use it too often, but I had been testing out a few things over the last couple of games, so perhaps I did something horrible to her without knowing. :-o
Generally, I try to steer clear of doing that kind of thing, if I'm not sure what it does I either ask first or just leave it alone.

Possibly. You really do have to be careful with it. There's a few things in it that will wipe out relationships that are named pretty unsuspectingly. I'd say it was either that or EA lost it's mind for a bit. Good thing you have backups.
