Hi all. I used to post occasionally on the old defunct site. Can't remember my user name. I was working on a valid parts file then and am mow working on it again. Can't find any of the old info/discussions on here so was wondering if anyone can tell me if they still exist and where they might be?
I'm getting persistently naked Sims and can't see why! The code in the XML file looks fine.

All the discussions are here however most are not indexed in the search at the moment. If you recalled your username it would be much easier to locate.
Naked sims happen when there's no valid part for that particular part. Are you forgetting to make something valid for it?

I don't remember my username! I notionally have clothing for all categories, but some of it is just not registering. I think it may be some small error in the validparts file that's failing to register certain things. Can't locate any issue though

Valid Parts file
So - update on the issues with my Valid Parts file.
It works - to an extent.
All the clothing specified in the file is accepted by Dresser, and if the Sims are wearing something invalid the mod will remove the items as it should.
However. When it assigns outfits it ALWAYS leaves certain categories naked.
This is NOT because there is no clothing assigned for that category, because when I manually assign them am outfit and then run an outfit check the mod accepts the clothing with no problem.
It just won't assign clothing on its own - to certain categories
Oh and just occasionally it will suddenly approve some random outfit that isn't in the Valid Parts file at all. But only sometimes.
Any thoughts or suggestions about what is going on here, what I might be doing wrong and what I can try as a fix would be incredibly gratefully received!
Could it be this individual game is just a bit borked?

Stil tearing my hair out on this issue!
The old site had a section called "Creating a Valid Parts file the easy way". Does it still exist on this site?
Also is there still a link somewhere to download a generic Valid Parts file?

It feels a bit lonely on this thread atm - but here's my latest update on the strange goings on. (Hoping someone might be able to help)
I've minutely checked the coding, and it looks fine. All declarations opened and closed.I can't see any errors at all. But still some items are not being recognised as valid, even tho they are in the file.
It looks almost as if the game is referring to a previous version of my VP file. Almost as if it were cached somewhere. Because all the 'missing' items are ones newly added to the file.
Is that remotely possible? That some outdated version of the VP file is being applied even tho the most up to date version is definitely in place??
I can't imagine how that would be - but I'm running out of ideas!

You've probably found this yourself by now, but here is your prior thread on the subject.

To get to the generic Valid and Invalid Parts files (note that only one or the other can be used at a time), click on Upload in the upper right corner of this site to bring up its file manager overlay, then Files and filter to Parts (or something like that). If that's not working for you, we'll try to provide more direct links.
Is this archived copy the tutorial you are looking for, or is it one of the others? Not all of them have made it over to our new site here yet, and not all of those that have are properly illustrated.

Sorry if this issue doesn't seem to be getting enough attention, but again as stated a few years back not all of us use Dresser or any of these more advanced features. Afraid the best I can do myself is help players find files and pages they are seeking and kind of direct traffic in the hopes that those with the proper experience with blacklisting, etc. come forward to assist.

Thanks Igazor That was indeed a tutorial I used, but it's not the one I was asking about.
Thing is - I'm a web designer in my non-Sim life so I have a bit of basic knowledge of coding and error-checking. The code in my VP file looks error-free to me, but it's doing this weeeird stuff.
It's true not many people seem to use the valid/Invalid Parts system. - I think I might be figuring out why!
Thanks for the moral support, tho. It's much appreciated

Dresser valid parts download is listed under tuning files on Dressers page.
I've never used this system myself so I have no idea what quirks it has. I do know the files can only support up to 10,000 lines I believe before the rest is not read. Are you exceeding this? Unfortunately I don't have time to test it at the moment and since you have entirely different CC than I do I'm not sure my results would help you unless it's very busted. I will make a note to try it with a few items in the future however.
