Please, somebody tell me... Why don't the gifts my active sims give to inactive sims end up in their luggage? They disappear without a trace! Is this the developers' idea or did I miss something in the settings?

I don't find this to always be the case. My active household members gave some gifts like skill books and skill gaining objects to at the time homeless NPCs they were nurturing who a sim week or more later I had move into my "halfway house" (as per one of my threads here). Never saw them read the books or use the objects on-screen but was very happy to see they still had them when I later made the halfway household active and started playing them. Perhaps that wasn't a fair test though since the virtual homeless household cannot carry a family inventory.

Also, what kind of gifts are we talking about? If you give them a car, if they don't bury it inventory they are probably going to leave it parked someplace and forget where eventually. Poisoned apples or a pile of dirty laundry they will probably carry around for years. Sims are strange creatures. :)

I'm talking about small gifts that characters can put in their pocket, not in family luggage. For example, music boxes, books, perfume, paintings and etc. I was able to give large objects without problems and sims kept them in their luggage for a long time. And there is another oddity: my active sims can't give inactive sims too expensive gifts, even if their relationship is as great as possible. Why? I can't understand whether there is any pattern in what is happening.

MasterController Integration unlocks the ability to give anything as a gift and they won't be deleted automagically either. Are you missing that mod?

Chain_Reaction, thanks for the answer and why is everything I need in unexpected places? I don't have this mod. If I remember correctly, it links SP and MC. I had some problems with the SP, so I decided to live without it. By the way, do you know why it reduces the number of homeless? It does not remove them all, but reduces the number by exactly half.

I believe you are confusing MC Integration with MC Progression.

What MC Integration does is impose various aspects of MC like its version of CAS and party invitation options onto in-game player directed functions so we don't always have to reach for MC commands to get these benefits. It has nothing to do with SP or what sims can do or have done to them on their own. I didn't know it had anything to do with giving sims gifts, but that seems reasonable as well.

Aha, then everything's perfect. I was just about to add to my collection of mods. Thank you for the explanation.

I must have missed something because it doesn't work for me. I tried to give perfume to sim (though this interaction is different from the standard gift giving, because it can be done at any level of relationship) and after checking, I found that the sim's luggage was empty. Is there a problem with this interaction? Or maybe I should to change something in the settings?

If the perfume gift giving process is different from the regular one, then MC Integration wouldn't be aware of it because the mods don't generally take store content generated features into account. Does the regular gift giving thing work any better, though?

I will test it properly and if there is something wrong, I will certainly let you know. And, of course, EA upset me again. This way of giving works perfectly in an active family, especially great if you want to give a nasty perfume to someone who annoys you - let him vomit further than he sees. However, in the case of inactive sims everything is not as I'd like.
Update: yeah, now the standard gift giving doesn't end with the disappearance of objects. In addition, I was pleased that sims who dig in their gardens, don't get in their luggage tons of fruits and vegetables. I was afraid of this, because I'd prefer that they did it purely for appearance.
