I'm curious if there is a way to get more friends and family to visit your sims at home? I though increasing the percentages for visitors and outings in StoryProgression > Options: Situations would increase the likelihood of this happening but it doesn't seem to be the case. I have been playing one household for quite a while and they have not had a single visitor stop by, even though they have a lot of friends.

The Options: Situations settings you are seeing are entirely for inactives, not for the actively being played sims.

For whatever reason, SP (I think it's SP) throttles the surprise visitors at the door. It is extremely rare that I ever see these, possibly never, unless it's Trick or Treaters or the Paparazzi. If you want your friends to come visit, afraid you would have to invite them over either the EA way by phone or the MC > Invite Over way.

Not sure if this was done on purpose or by accident, but many of us don't mind because we don't have friends visiting us in real life either unless they call, text, or are invited over first. Complete strangers banging on my door is another matter, usually it's around 3 or 4 am and they got off the elevator on the wrong floor, but that's part of the joys of apartment living.

My guess would be 100. But even that wouldn't be instant, it would men the kind of Situation specified would have a 100% chance of running somewhere in the world once each cycle of SP"s Situation Manager. On default (Normal) speeds of progression, that would be once every 1,000 sim minutes (or once every 16.67 sim hrs). More often if the Manager Speed setting is adjusted or if Progression is running on one of the two higher overall speeds.
