Resurrecting Toddlers?

Post by Tropical Insomniac » April 24th, 2019, 8:27 pm

I discovered a toddler in an inactive family had died, and in a fit of sympathy, decided to bring the poor tot back. The toddler was listed as homeless and MC didn't give me an option to find his grave, but I managed to add him to my active household, which made him a playable ghost. That's where I'm a bit stuck.

Putting the toddler in a high chair and having an adult give him Ambrosia didn't do anything. Using DE's DEBUG: Resurrect brings the tot back to life, but removed him from the active household and made him my active Sim. Going to Edit Town to try to merge him with my active household or his original household revealed that I no longer have an active household. I saved right before trying DEBUG: Resurrect, so I quit without saving at that point.

He's only two days from aging up to child, so I'm inclined to let him do so and then try Ambrosia on him again. Still, I do wonder if there's a way to actually restore him while he's still a toddler. Plus, I've never tried Ambrosia on kids, maybe it doesn't work on them either.

(Weirdly, he is the third premature death in the Parrot family. His teenage cousin also died, and his adult aunt was already deceased at the beginning of play in Sunlit Tides.)

AFAIK the only way is to wait until their a child and have them eat the Ambrosia.

I just noticed this if you couldn't find the tombstone that means for some unknown reason it was deleted never add a ghost to your household if the tombstone is missing they are unrecoverable it can cause game corruption.
As Chain had stated here chatterbox/topic7082

Resurrecting Toddlers?

Thanks for the heads up. After rereading that thread, and considering my available previous saves, I've decided to risk the game corruption. This game has already gone on for longer than most of my games do, so if it gets corrupted I'll just reincarnate some of my favorite Sims from the bin and start a new game.

Besides, I did previously resurrect his teenaged cousin into my active household, and so far haven't seen any problems with her. Kind of makes me wonder if these Sims had tombstones, but I just couldn't find them. (I didn't do an extensive search for them, just noticed MC was missing the "locate tombstone" option for those Sims.)
