Question re SP Careers V268

Post by Senorita_Ugly » February 25th, 2019, 7:22 am

Hello, I have a technical question (and apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to post this - but the 'Discussions' tab doesn't seem to be active under the main Story Progression web page, and I wasn't sure how else to raise my question!)

I downloaded and installed SP Careers V268, but each time I attempt to launch the game, it launches base game only, and none of the expansion packs. Once I removed the mod, everything went back to normal. I tried this several times. I'm patched up to 1.69, so I'm just wondering if V268 is conflicting with that patch?

Question re SP Careers V268

The main version of the mod at the moment appears to be V267 but there is a V269 in testing: Update-History-Testing
Maybe that will help?

Question re SP Careers V268

I'm sorry, but the above is not correct. The current version of the SP base mod is v267. The current version of SP Career is v268, this was an update a while back to account for those using AussomeDays' More Entry Points mod from MTS. The version numbers of the modules do not always match that of the base mods when one receives an update but the others do not need any.

The SP versions in beta testing are all v269 and should not be mixed and matched with a v267 base mod, the base mod and the five modules offered there would all have to be updated to the new versions to avoid mismatches (any other SP modules in use can stay as they are).

But none of this should have anything to do with expansions not loading and Patch 1.69 has nothing to do with mods except for the potential error it can throw on Core Mods due to the internal build numbers being different over 1.67. The only Core Mods from this source are ErrorTrap and UntranslatedKey. Script Mods like SP load much later in the startup process than EPs.

Strange. Are the EPs still appearing in the 1.69 Launcher's Packs and Stuff chooser tab but need to be checkboxed to load, or are they not even appearing there? This tab has to be checked on every startup when on Patch 1.69 to make sure that which is checked stays so and that none of them go hiding on you.

Edit: Each of the major mods has its own discussion board, and then there is a catch-all one for the others that require a tag (topic attribute) so we know which mod is being talked about and to improve searchability. But Chatterbox is fine for general usage, we'll just move this thread once things are resolved.

Ahh, I hadn't realised the modules didn't always match the base version. That could explain why I couldn't find a base v268. Apologies for that!

Question re SP Careers V268

Hi and thanks for the response.

I definitely have all the EP boxes ticked in the launcher before firing my game - I double-checked that several times.

You mentioned ErrorTrap as being a core mod affected by Patch 1.69. I do have this installed if that's of any help.

Because of its special status as a Core Mod, we have three different variants of ErrorTrap available on the mod's download page. One each for Patch 1.69, 1.67/Steam, and 1.67/Disc-Origin. But still none of this should have anything to do with EPs not loading when and only when SP Career is present. I assume you are seeing the base game startup screen when this happens, but you are certain that the EP content isn't loading as well? You can't start a game in any of the EP worlds, for instance?

What happens if you try a test run with NRaas mods only in play, and the scriptCache.package file cleared?

Or move your TS3 user game folder out to your Desktop for safekeeping and let a new no-content game folder spawn in its place, back out, set up the mods Framework, and again only NRaas mods. Any different? (you can put the original game folder back in place as needed, this would just be a test)

Yep, seeing base game start up, but am unable to play current game save (in BP) and no other EP worlds will load.

I'm pretty certain I cleared the cache before installing V268 - I always clear the cache before installing new mods. But I haven't tried testing with exclusively NRaas mods. I'll try both your suggestions (once I'm home from work - Sydney time here :)). Thanks - will update in a little while!

Senorita_Ugly,

I'm not sure if this is the reason for your issue but I just noticed that it hasn't been explicitly mentioned in this thread yet, whether or not you actually have the Story Progression Base Mod installed as well?

The SP Career Mod is an add-on module for the Story Progression Base Mod and as such, requires the SP Base Mod to be installed. I believe you need the 267 version of the SP Base Mod to go with the 268 version of the SP Career module. :-)

Sarah_Sims, yep, I've definitely got SP Base Mod V267 installed. Well... I'm *pretty sure* it's V267! I installed it not long after installing the University Life and Island Paradise EPs a year ago, and I think Patches 1.67/1.69 correspond with those EPs?

I'm home in front of the 'puter now, so will give igazor's suggestions a shot, and see how that goes...

igazor, well THAT'S interesting. I just tried your first suggestion, and all the EPs loaded. Now I'm going to return all my other mods back into the packages folder, delete the scriptCache.package file, and see what happens...

*few minutes later*

Okay, all mods are returned to the folder. The game has launched properly, all EPs included. Just waiting for my save file to load, to be sure everything is working ok within the game itself.

If this was something as simple as me forgetting to delete the scriptCache.package file, then I feel pretty damn embarrassed. I could have sworn I deleted it though, I always do when installing new mods!
