Thanks, no harm in trying. It may work and if it doesnt, it'll look good there anyway :)

I tried the Gardening thing but could only Water Plants and Identify Seeds. Only my sim couldn't water the plants like on a residential lot with a watering can. The whole gardening structure spewed out water all over the plants. Not what I was looking for. But worth trying.

If you mean the Stone Throws Greenhouse that is community lot and would fall under the core blocking.

From the description of the product it is clear that we can water the plants at one time, talk to them using a megaphone, identify the seeds and make fertilizers. We shouldn't have expected it to be something traditional. I assumed that with this contraption the characters would be able to play the situation of active activity, since you needed practice. However, does this thing affect the skill? And are all these actions possible on the public lot?

The only thing you can't do on that lot if I remember correctly is plant seeds. By default you do pretty much what it says in the description but you have to use that water thingy to water the plants.

Right, with that contraption, the only options on a community lot are Water (which the contraption does in a large area), Talk to plants, Identify seeds and probably Make Fertilizer (didn't try that one). As far as I can tell there's no gaining skill points for these. Anyways, its not what I wanted, I wanted my sims to be able to do "regular" gardening on community lots, which I now know is impossible. :)

I would also love a script modded on off switch on a per lot basis for the gardening features like weeds and plant decay. This way i could enable it, when I play families in my rotation who should look after the plants, like anyone studying biology at university. And disable it when I am playing other families.

AwesomeMod undoes the core block, but potentially butts heads with various other things.
I think Tempest has community lot gardening as an option? IDK, I don't use it.

It's not that big of a deal. I just thought it would be nice to be able to garden on community lots. Maybe even run an allotment for a community garden. But I accept it can't be done. I checked Tempest and dont see any options in there. Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Well the nice thing about a community garden is when you need seeds for your sim to start their own garden, you get a nice selection all in one place instead of having to hunt all over or buy them :D .
