I built a house and soon after I noticed that I couldn't click on certain spots on the floor, and in Build/Buy I must find a certain spot on some objects for the hand to show up so I can grab them. Last time I played I put a small CC deco object temporarily on the floor, but when I was going to move it it was impossible to grab. Had to use MC/Object status to "flush" it.
Then I started thinking that maybe it's the concrete stilt foundation that causes this? I mean, if an object it placed drectly above a stilt? Maybe it's a bug? And is there a fix for it?

Hm, can you make a screenshot, how the thing with an object looks? I think I haven't had this happen befor.

Oh, it's like if there's a chair that I want to move and I put the mouse pointer on it and it's still an arrow so I can't grab it. I have to move the mouse pointer around on the chair to find a spot that will change the arrow into the grab hand so I can pich the chair up.

O.k. here are some guesses, try this first:
- delete the 5 cachefiles in sims 3 folder (where all your data is like saves etc.)
- enter build/buy mode directly via ctr + shift and click the ground of the lot
Did this help?

I always have trouble selecting anything on a stilt foundation, whether objects or Sims, having to wave the mouse pointer around or adjusting the angle of view until I can select them. I suspect it's an issue with the foundations.

Yeah, it seems as if the game thinks that the spots where the stilts/pillars are are occupied for some reason. Must be a bug.
@C-Dark, I always delete those cache files after closing the game. I can try to reset the lot, but I doubt that it will help.

Lay your stilt foundation. Now turn your camera to look at it from the front of the lot. Starting with left or right side delete leaving the first row of stilts alone the second and third row of stilts from front to back and replace the now empty space with flooring and repeat until you reach the last set of stilts leaving the last set alone.
In the end you should only have the first and last row of stilts with none inbetween just replace with flooring as you delete the rows.

@sittingbear , thanks for the tip! I don't want to have to rebuild the house, but I might. The next time I load the game I'll check if it's possible to delete stilts and if it makes a difference.

It might be a pita if already built as you would have to delete everything above the stilts to rebuild the foundations, 90% of the house I imagineCororon post_id=58500 time=1539357152 user_id=5627 wrote: @sittingbear , thanks for the tip! Worth trying sittingbear's suggest if starting from scratch, though

You can also use the same method for brick foundations. I build my stilt and brick foundations this way all the time and on all types of terrain. A couple of houses in the Twinbrook swamps are good examples that it works it just took me a little bit to figure out how to do it.fxchristensen post_id=58527 time=1539432720 user_id=9420 wrote:It might be a pita if already built as you would have to delete everything above the stilts to rebuild the foundations, 90% of the house I imagineCororon post_id=58500 time=1539357152 user_id=5627 wrote: @sittingbear , thanks for the tip!
