I just downloaded this file (V2.1) from the link, but when I extract and try to run the application, I get the following pop-up message:
System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary.
at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.get_Item(TKey key)
at Sims3RegistryKey.TS3CC.get_Sims3MyDocFolder()
at Save_Cleaner.Form1.Form1_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)
I hit the <OK> button, and then a Microsoft .NET Framework error shows that an 'Unhandled exception has occurred in your application...The given key was not present in the dictionary." After which I can <Continue> or <Exit>. If I continue, the application opens up, but does not show any of my existing saves in the window.
I can run Delphy's Dashboard and CUSTARD, as well as CC Magic, so I don't think the problem should be with my Microsoft .NET Framework? Any ideas as to what the issue is? And should I just give up on Save Cleaner and try the S3PE method of cleaning my (many) save files?

Save Cleaner 2.x does require .NET 4, same as CC Magic. Custard requires .NET 2, which is a different framework so not relevant. That might not be the problem here at all as you said. But you might want to make sure you have .NET 4 installed. The different .NET frameworks can co-exist alongside each other.
Save Cleaner does need to be fully extracted and all of its parts located in the same folder as the main exe file. Some players seem to have problems with the zipped version but can get the self-extracting archive version to work, others the other way around. Have you tried both?

If all else fails and you want to try Save Cleaner v1, and you don't have that already, let me know and I can PM a link to where I've got it stashed away.

Hi igazor. Yup, checked and I have .NET Framework 4.6.1...so that's okay. Whew! I downloaded the zipped file and extracted it, then downloaded the self-extracting version, but there was no difference in functionality once the files were extracted. I keep my Sims 3 "adjunct programs" in one folder (S3PE, CUSTARD, Dashboard, etc.), so the extracted files for Save Cleaner are all in the same location. Just tried both downloads again; same issue.
I just downloaded v1.1 a few minutes ago; will try that and see if it works. Thanks for the response, igazor!

You're very welcome. But these things are all relative. I never take save cleaning action of any kind until my individual nhd files exceed 300 MB or so, sometimes they get as large as 500 MB. I don't think it will clean down to less than 160 MB anymore for a couple of the homeworlds inside. Others do take action sooner. My entire save for my long-running ongoing game, one instance with 15 Traveler connected worlds and the TravelDB file included, usually weighs in at around 1.7-2.1 GB. But of course it's the actual nhd files inside that are important, not the total weight of the saved game folder, unless one is running low on drive space.
Yes, all is relative. I don't think I'll be running the Save Cleaner often, but I'm doing a reorganizing of my files, mostly using CC Magic. My games don't seem to have too much lag, at least not after I removed a mod that was causing mass migration into my town that resulted in no end of lag. But I like to get the files/programs/applications I might need in future and try them out before it's an emergency. I only started with the Sims franchise in January this year, with a sale copy of Sims 3 base game packaged up with an expansion and a stuff pack, so I'm already years behind most everyone in figuring this stuff out and tracking down some of the tools I find out about through googling. Luckily, I don't mind a good bit of digging.

It does help a lot with memory usage to kill those SNAPs. I did some tests a while ago and found they are all loaded into memory and just sit there. The ironic thing is the game doesn't even have access to them anymore once the Sim has been deleted. I tried deleting them with scripting and it did nothing. They are just floating around somewhere in a memory address the game doesn't know about anymore. Genius programming.
Haha! Genius is right.
I've never had a sim take up photography, and only a couple times did I have one of mine take pictures to paint a portrait. Plus I disabled all memory-making to reduce the bloat, and I don't generally take screenshots myself. So all these SNAPs are self-generated by the game - maybe I spend too much time in CAS. I'll just have to keep an eye on the .nhd file sizes.
