Height Mod

Post by littlelambsy » July 11th, 2016, 10:32 am

I thought about adding a height mod to my game but don't know much about them. So I have some questions for those who use them.

1. Does it make sims random heights?
2. Does it cause animation problems... like if a tall male kisses a short female, does he end up kissing thin air and her his belly button LOL
3. What do you like about the mod?

I've been using CMarNYC's for quite a while now.
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=508972

1 - Not random that I've noticed but, and I think this depends on the slider used, the values become inheritable.

2 - Yes, this is the only drawback. Although the worst I have seen is nose, neck, and forehead (maybe the thin air thing in one extreme couple's case), not belly button. I just try not to stare when they get intimate, it's not polite. Very tall sims will also experience some clipping when sleeping in beds, it's like their knees stick out from under the covers.

3 - I put up with #2 happily because of the realism and variety the mod adds and allows me to add to my sims. I'm around average height for a male IRL, but very few people I know are exactly the same height as me. :)

It also allows me to make some teens early in their age stage shorter than others temporarily without having to deploy Consort's Grow mod, which is another way to go about it.

Glad you asked that question LL. I've been back and forth wanting to try a Grow Mod. I am going to put in CMarNYC's mod igazor is using.
As for #2 - Don't think that will make a difference (to me anyway) for the reasons igazor pointed out. Taking pictures for stories might be another thing though. As far as the clipping. I already see that in some of my CC beds that have those extra bedspreads and pillows. I just ignore it. The bed looks too pretty with those extra throw blankets and pillows when they're not sleeping in it :)

I just downloaded the mod from igzor's link, I think this is going to be fun. Something new for my simies :) Thanks again igazor. As brappl says, it could produce some interesting screenshots LOL

The difference is that the Grow mod takes control of a child (later in their age stage) and a teen (earlier in their age stage) and makes them "grow," that is, develop, gradually a little bit each sim day instead of all at once on their birthday spin. It doesn't have any impact on younger or older sims like a height slider would.

Thanks igazor, I think I prefer the height sliders, the one you linked to. I'll give it a try. :)

Cmar's mod is "just" the slider (and her's is the best one out there), my grow mod adjust that slider in nightly updates for children and teens to make them... well, grow.

You can use my Landslide mod to randomize height (or any slider) for your entire town population. I'm using Cmar's slider as an example somewhere in the description http://www.simlogical.com/ContentUpload ... oads/2277/
