Can I de-activate the auto wake-up for actives?

Post by NyxBean » December 23rd, 2018, 12:22 pm

I want alarm clocks in-game to matter, at least for my active sims. I notice my sims always wake up a short time before they have to head to work or class and, if I understand correctly, that's a feature of Careers. I had a look at the FAQ and peeked into the mod menu but I can't see if there is a way to disable the auto wake-up. Is this possible or would I have to remove Careers?

As I understand it, the wakeup time is a function of individual careers themselves whether they be custom or built-in EA careers, not the Careers mod. I believe that to change or disable it, you would have to alter or mod each individual career. The Careers mod v86 and higher (so the current one as well) does fix some non-standard wakeup times that EA goofed up, so for some careers you will see slightly different behavior with the mod in place.

Note that the function is global for all sims in each career. If there were no wakeup times at all, then sims all over town would constantly be late for work.

May i ask why you would not want your sims to wake up when they are supposed to go to work/school soon or have I misunderstood the intent? The alarm clock should allow them to wake up earlier than otherwise, not later.

Ah, I see. I must have been mixing up my memories with when I played Sims 2. Unless they pushed them awake in that too, in which case I have no idea what I was thinking.

I'll recheck to make sure but I had alarm clocks for a bit and it seemed to just wake them at the same time they'd get up anyway. I don't necessarily want all my Sims to miss work but I find it realistic for them to have an alarm clock. And to miss work sometimes if I decide to let autonomy run wild.
