Career Outfits

Post by Tangie0906 » January 25th, 2016, 2:15 pm

I's sure this has been asked before but a search didn't come up with any posts; apologize if y'all have to answer this over and over!

I am interested in the best way to handle career outfits after University. As you know, thereafter they wear their graduation robe as their career outfit and it drives me crazy (OK then, so it's a short trip). What I've been doing is to create a second career outfit and having them change into that, but sometimes they end up switching back into the graduation robes.

Is it safe to delete the graduation robes outfit once I create a new second outfit? I know there is some kind of difficulty when trying to change the first career outfit so I usually try to leave that alone, but the robes thing really bugs me!

To delete you'd need to go into the core game files and I don't think that's such a good idea. I use Kuree's EasyCASP Editor to hide them in CAS as well as untick them for random assignment by the game .. and they can also be unticked for the Career Category.

I assumed (and maybe that was where things started to go wrong) that the outfit was needed for Uni. Like the coders used the career outfit to get students to wear the robe to graduation. Except the problem is that they KEEP that outfit as their career outfit even after they come home and start an actual career.

I can use MC - Remove Outfit to get rid of it after having them change into a new career outfit, but I wasn't sure if that was a wise thing to do. Wouldn't hiding it or un-ticking it from the career category make it unavailable for University graduation?

I have the Graduation Robes Hidden in CAS, disabled for random assignment however, when it's time for graduation they show up with the Cap and Gown on.
I might have misunderstood when you said Delete. If you just mean removing them from the Career outfit Category that should work also.

Yes, I'm sorry my question was confusing. I don't wish to permanently delete them, just get sims to stop wearing them to their jobs in music, athletics, etc.! It was my understanding that editing the first career outfit didn't work correctly.

So you don't have the robes disabled for career? I'd think that disabling them for career would also make them unusable at Uni, if the developers used the same code (which I'm guessing they did, or the sims wouldn't be using them as career outfits in the home world).

I just use MC to remove the cap and gown outfit after graduation. What bugs me is that, at least for self-employed sims, graduation will remove all career outfits they have, and after university graduation I have to recreate them. For sims in rabbit hole careers I leave the career category empty after removing the cap and gown outfit. The game will generate the appropriate career outfit for those sims on it's own.

You should see some of the career outfits the game generates for my worlds' sims when they land in a job and level that doesn't have a preset uniform after I've removed the cap and gown. Nothing I want removed from my game permanently for other purposes, but let's just say many of them are NSFW. Or don't leave much to the imagination, anyway. :)

@Tangie0906 .. I have the graduation robes and caps that came with Generations hidden in CAS and available for random. I have the entire UNI EP stuff hidden in CAS. I never see the robes on other sims until graduation.
I have found changing the first outfit in Stylist works well. Have you tried to change the graduation robes to something else in Stylist?

No, I was under the impression that the default career outfit couldn't be edited. But I like TreyNutz idea to just delete the robes and let the game create the career outfit. With the understanding that if there is no designated outfit, I might just have a different career outfit to hate on. LOL

Ok, so I have a question about career outfits and reading here I am still very confused (I'm not computer savvy in any way so I easily get lost). My problems are: 1) Service sims appearing with career outfits not relating to their jobs (post person comes dressed as if employed in the culinary profession) why? I don't know if what I do is right but usually I delete the outfit and the next time they come they'll wear the postman/woman outfit.. but not for long, as a few days later they go back to wearing cooks outfits.
2) My sims changing into career outfits chosen by the game which will include changing hairstyles and clothes, is there a way to stop this from happening?
