Hello, I have installed the carrier's mod as I wanted to do home schooling. My child sim enrolled in homeschooling on the computer just fine but as soon as I do the "download homework" interaction the whole game just shuts off. I've done several tests and it's that action specifically that does it. My child sim did go to elementary school before enrolling and does have an item in her inventory called "old homework". I don't know if that's doing anything.

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

This is unusual May I ask if you have Overwatch and ErrorTrap in play? Typically Overwatch removes "old homework" that becomes useless during its overnight cleanup run, including those in your active sims' inventories. But you could also try using MasterController to flush the old homework item out to see if that helps. If you have ErrorTrap, is it logging any unusual error logs that you could zip together and upload for us to help interpret?

If none of that helps, then perhaps try a test run of this game with only NRaas mods (including of course Careers and the Careers School module) to see if that runs any differently?

I JUST installed error trap last night to see if that would help. I also have overwatch. I'll try your suggestions after work, thanks!

Not to bury you in suggestions all at once, but I do see something I neglected to mention at first. Have you tried using a different kind of computer or having the teen physically go to (I think it's City Hall) to turn in their homework if they have any done and get a new assignment, just to see if it's the computer part of this transaction that is getting in the way?

I've tried a different computer. Same problem. Haven't tried city hall though. How do I use Master controller to flush out the old homework?

Okay, I tried getting rid of the old homework and started to download the homework. Same crash still happened, I tried going to city hall but there is no option to get homework or to hand in homework even though I have the download option on the computer.

On the ground of the lot where the teen sim currently is or its map tag, NRaas > MC > Object Stats > Inventory and select it to flush, assuming it comes up on the list. (MC Cheats add-on module required)

Or if the old homework isn't stuck , I suppose you could drive the teen way off to the edge of the map and bury it. Or put it behind a locked door someplace. But for some reason those sound more complicated.

Okay I'm sorry but something is indeed wrong here. If your sim is enrolled in Home Schooling, then City Hall is their school essentially. There has to be an option to Get New Assignment (or whatever it's called) if they don't already have one or else this method of schooling isn't really going to work for them. The computer upload/download thing is merely a convenience.

Do you have more than one City Hall? (probably not)
Can you MC Reset it?
Is it a combo lot with something else like the Police and Military? (this really shouldn't matter anymore as current versions of Overwatch are supposed to take care of combo lot issues)
Can you enroll this teen in a regular school and then try Home Schooling again after a sim day or two?

And, what patch level is your game on and what kind of install is this (Origin, Steam, retail store disc, some other source and which one...)

It's a steam install. City Hall is a lot by itself, not a combo lot. Patch level 1.67

I have tried enrolling then unenrolling and then enrolling again the next day (it's Friday on the save so the next day is the weekend, don't know of that matters.) Still have the problem

Sorry if I missed where you mentioned this, but have you tried MC Resetting City Hall? And MC Resetting the sim?

Other than those, I may be out of ideas here. Let's see if our lead developer or the others here have any when they get to see this thread.
