Hello,

After receiving numerous downright rude and demanding messages via the contact form, I'm officially noting I will start IP banning you from this site if it continues. The contact form is for account issues only, DO NOT use it for anything else. I'm aware there are some issues with the site. I am but one person who has a full time job and responsibilities that come before NRaas and will address those issues when I have time.

We are but 7 days into a move that encompassed converting 18,000 user accounts, 59,000 user posts, 2,000+ FAQ's and pages and hundreds of files into an entirely different data format. We are operating on an entirely different platform that contains hundreds of thousands of lines of code that I wrote as fast as possible when my schedule allowed for it. This on top of unforeseen issues with attacks inherited from Wikispaces, last minute technical issues caused by them and the need for extra caching tools due to unexpected server load has broke some of the code. There's bound to be issues.

While I ask for users to report things as they find them, the self righteous entitled and demeaning messages I have been getting would not have been tolerated by twallan and will not be by me either. I believe very fondly in twallan's policy that the more you complain about something the further down my list it goes. Obviously I have no intention of leaving things broken or I would have never put in the effort to move the site in the first place.

At this time you all have a forum to post with countless new features and all the downloads that were vital are available after I stablized the server and stopped bots that were flooding them. There's some 2,000 FAQ entries currently available to you. Let us enjoy that while the rest is worked on.

Here's the official word on the following:
  • Search is being worked on. I am aware it is missing the older posts and pages.
  • I have no plans to offer older patch downloads at this time. These just took up a lot of storage space and weren't officially supported. Please patch your game to at least 1.67.
  • A few of the documentation pages have interactions that appear out of order due to converter issues. These are being worked on. In addition Ani's documentation pages are still being restored.
  • Release notes are still being restored.
  • Translations just didn't fit into my schedule. I will get to those when time permits.
  • The help and contribute pages are offline because they depend on data pertaining to the interaction pages and other code that I had to pull last minute. These are new pages that weren't available on the old site however so you're not missing anything.
  • Many pages need manual editing as they contain old information and some broken links and images. We are working on these but due to the volume of pages it is a slow process.
  • The mod updater has been discontinued for now and will no longer function. There are plans to resolve this but not in the immediate future.
If you need help with something, post and let us know. We have forums for specific uses, please do your best to post in the correct forum.

Remember to approach us respectfully and with common sense or I will remove you from this community permanently.

Thanks.

I have updated the above post with the current status of the issues. Things are taking longer than I had hoped to resolve due to ongoing DDOS attacks and server performance issues but I am making progress. Besides numerous issues that have been addressed since launch, I have just concluded a maintenance period of the site and the following issues were addressed:
  • PHP errors on the top of Ani's mod pages and the Packer page.
  • NoCD download being missing from it's page.
  • Ani's mod pages now have notes.
  • Added in ability to collapse forum categories.
  • Floating table of contents no longer shows on the home page.
  • Floating table of contents no longer shows on pages that don't contain a lot of entries.
  • Floating table of contents can now be disabled by clicking the X icon on it. It can be re-enabled by clicking the list icon at the top of it when you're at the top of the page.
  • Numerous style issues were addressed.
  • Changed "Not available" to "Release notes not available" to prevent confusion on the mod pages.
  • Added in a note to visit our How To Install page to the top of every mod page.
  • Removed duplicate info from How To Install.
  • Updated old information on the home page.
  • Stop unhiding hidden text boxes when posting replies.
  • Documentation links now work on mod pages.
  • Interaction pages are slowly returning. The more important ones are now here, the others will return asap.
Please note some of these changes may look odd or not immediately take effect due to caching.

I've added in Topic Attributes to our Mod Discussion forum. These allow you to tag your thread with the mod you're posting about to make it stand out in the mass of threads. These are also searchable so everyone can find threads about a specific mod no matter where they might exist in the forum. Please use them.

I've enabled Best Answer in Chatterbox, Install Help and all of our mod forums. These allow you to mark a reply as the best answer to your question so others who might be searching through posts later don't have to read an entire thread to find the solution. Just hover over a post and hit the check mark that appears. Please make use of this system as well.

Finally I've stablized the pages system and organizers are starting to make their way through fixing broken links and outdated information.

Many more updates to come.

December update:

I've updated the list in the initial post with what is still being worked on. Now that we have DDOS protection that appears to be working, my attention is back on getting things back up and running around here.

The following issues have been addressed:
  • All NRaas interaction pages should be back. Some of them are rough around the edges due to converter errors. These will be ironed out in time.
  • Fixed numerous limitations and bugs in the page editing system preventing pages from being able to be edited properly.
  • The proper editor should now load in the forum when clicking links from emails to here.
  • Enabled the browsers native spell checker in the editor. Please note due to the editor having it's own right click menu, you have to hover on the misspelled word with your mouse then hold the CTRL key while right clicking to get the context menu with the spelling suggestions.
  • Removed duplicate Answers data in users post information.
  • Numerous other small issues.
Current priorities are restoring Ani's interaction pages, fixing broken images on tutorial pages, adding support for tuning files to the mod pages and creating a better user experience when editing pages. Please continue to bear with me while I address the outstanding issues. :)

January update:

Most of January was heavily spent creating and fixing page tools for organizers. I released tons of new code to the site to address more editing issues, tools for creating new pages, our recent changes stream and a page search feature that is currently being tested. Myself and the other organizers also spent a while sorting through countless pages fixing broken links and outdated information.

My apologies for some of the documentation, tutorials and mod pages still being a mess. As noted in the previous post, these have been a priority for a while. I just felt addressing the broken links and problems preventing organizers from managing pages were slightly higher. I do plan to at least tackle the mod pages this month and time permitting some other things. Work on the site will definitely stretch over the next few months however.

Some fixes:
  • Should be able to navigate beyond the first page on the who's online listing.
  • Navigating beyond the first page on search results has also been fixed.
    • This should fix your posts, new posts, unread posts, unanswered topics and active topics.
    • Please note that any posts prior to our move are not in the search engine yet. This requires an index rebuild that I will get to when I have time.
  • Who has visited today should be less random. It was using the users time zone of the user who caused the cache to refresh as the cut off making it's idea of midnight vary widely throughout the day.
More fixes incoming including the previously discussed work on the mod pages that I have been working on for a bit. No ETA but should be in the next few weeks, schedule permitting.

Obviously the schedule did not permit the next few weeks but 1 month and a few weeks later.... The site received a major update while you were snoozing. Two months of sorting through hundreds of pages and files, mod pages fixes are finally here.
  • Fixed both PocketProtector download links.
  • Fixed UntranslatedKey download link and the incorrect label that it was for 1.69.
  • All 103 of our mods have been sorted through fixing cut off and mangled descriptions... also updating a few to be more current.
  • All 81 of our tuning mods have been added to their respective mod pages with their descriptions manually imported.
  • Modules now specify Download for <base mod version> rather than a patch number.
  • Organizers can now edit mod descriptions.
  • Organizers can now create mod pages.
  • Performance improvements for mod pages load times.
  • Various style updates to the mod pages.
  • Removed invalid links from mod pages. The system is now smart enough to only show valid links for those mods that have such pages in the nav bar (Documentation, FAQ etc under the descriptions).
  • The Discussions link on the mod pages now actually works.
  • Added buttons next to download button in the header for modules and tunings for mods that have them.
  • Added Documentation links to the Mods List page.
  • Added modules and tuning links to the Mods List page.
  • Removed FAQ links for those that don't have them on the Mods List page.
  • Probably more I'm forgetting.
Things to note:
  • I am still working on uploading some of the tuning mods I missed. If you come across a broken link, try again later.
  • I am still uploading the tag images for Tagger so don't mind the broken images.
  • The "Notes" sections on the pages are still messy and somewhat mangled. It's on the list to sort out.
  • Things may look wonky while the style changes update through cache.
That resolves all outstanding issues with access to the mods. Next I want to get back to the pages. I plan to resume focus on pages search, ani's documentation pages, broken images in tutorials and malformed tutorials. I haven't forgotten about the contribute and help pages either. Nor about release notes and translations but those will be some of the last things I tackle. It is a slow process but we'll get there. :)

Do things look a little different around here or is it just me?
  • A lot of work was done to make the site mobile friendly. Many things are now hidden on smaller screens to allow the layout to collapse naturally. A new hamburger menu was added when on mobile for quick access to popular links. There's still work to be done in this area but we should be much prettier on smaller screens (sorry that took so long).
  • Hover effects hopefully now work on touch devices when tapping.
  • Moved the pagination of multi-page threads above the quick reply box.
  • We now hide the upload tab when logged out because guests cannot upload anything.
  • The sticky top nav bar now appears on load if you refresh in the middle of a page.
  • The sticky nav bar should now adjust to screen size on non-mobile devices (still problematic on those).
  • Various cleanup's in PM display.
  • Changes to forum and thread display to make it look less cluttered and allow more flexibility on mobile.
  • Forum feed links now produce an RSS feed.
  • Tons of small fixes and changes to the site layout for polish.
  • Users without avatars now generate Google-esque inital plates for design consistency.
  • The search index was rebuilt so now all older posts should be in it. (finally)
  • Reaction images should now actually appear when reacting to posts beyond the first page of a thread.
  • Removed the defunct social networks (Google+, Sonico, FriendFeed) from our social buttons and profiles and added Whatsapp and Firefox Pocket.
These are style changes that have been in the works for a while. I refrained from pushing any major code updates while I monitor how the server handles our new cache systems. There will be many more updates through the end of the year.

Things may look weird while Cloudflare flushes the cache. If it still looks weird in a few days or you have an extreme dislike of the new changes let me know in the site help forum.

P.S. It looks like some ghouls slipped in while the server was down. I'm going to have to add getting rid of them to the list. Noted. ;)

All pages/tutorials that had images have finally been restored (if you find any missing, let me know). I have also fixed some broken links in a few tutorials. I recognize tutorials are an important part of this community and I apologize for how long that took. It was a tedious process of manually searching through a huge database dump for broken image code. Unfortunately there remains a large amount of tutorials that have xml code missing from them due to our converter. I am trying to figure out the least painless way of restoring this and will update asap.
